माकड आणि मगर

There was a Jamun (Black-berry) tree on the bank of a river, which was full of sweeet Jamun fruits throughout the year. This tree was home to a monkey. He used to pass his days happily by playing and jumping, and used to eat the sweet Jamun fruits.

एका नदीच्या काठी जांभळाचं झाड होतं. वर्षभर त्या | झाडाला गोड जांभळ लागत असत. हे झाड म्हणजे एका माकडाचं घर होतं. तो त्याचा काळ झाडावर उड्या मारत आनंदाने झाडाची गोड फळे खात तेथे सुखाने घालवत होता.

One day, a crocodile came out of the river to take some rest under the Jamun tree. When monkey | him from the tree, he said, "O Crocodile, this tree is my home and you have come under this tree to take rest. This makes you my guest. Please accept some Jamun fruits." saw

एके दिवशी एक मगर नदीतून बाहेर जांभळाच्या झाडाखाली विश्रांतीसाठी आली. जेव्हा माकडाने झाडावरून पाहिले तेव्हा म्हणाला, "ए मगर, हे झाड माझं घर आहे आणि तू इथे आराम करायला आली आहेस. म्हणून तू माझी पाहुणी आहेस. आता हे जांभळं घे."

Monkey plucked lots of fruits and threw them im the crocodile's mouth. Crocodile loved the swee fruits, and became friendly with Monkey. Crocodile left in the evening after thanking the generosity of the monkey.

माकडाने बरीच जांभळ तोडली आणि मगरीच्या तोंडात टाकले. मगीरला गोड जांभळं खूप आवडले. तिने माकडासोबत मैत्री करून संध्याकाळी ती परत गेली.

Crocodile started coming to the Jamun tree every day, and they became good friends. They would talk for a long time and enjoy eating the sweet Jamun fruits together.

अशा प्रकारे रोज मगर जांभळाच्या झाडापाशी येई. | माकडाची आणि तिची चांगली मैत्री झाली. ते दोघे एकमेकांच्या सहवासात खूप वेळ घालवत आणि गोड जांभळं पण सोबत खात.

One day, Crocodile said to Monkey that he wanted to take some of the Jamun fruits for her wife to let her know of the sweetness of these fruits. So, the monkey happily plucked more fruits for the crocodile to take home.

एके दिवशी मगर माकडाला म्हणाली की त्याला जांभळ आपल्या बायकोसाठी न्यायची आहेत. तिला पण या जांभळाची चव घेऊ दे. म्हणून माकडाने आनंदाने बरीच जाम तोडली आणि मगरीला घरी न्यायला दिले.

Crocodile took those fruits and offered his wife to eat them, and narrated the story of his friendship with the monkey who lives on the Jamun tree. The crocodile's wife was overjoyed on eating those sweet fruits.

मगराने ती फळ घेतली आणि आपल्या बायकोला खायला दिली. त्याने बायकोला माकडासोबतच्या मैत्रीबद्दल सांगितल | मगराच्या बायकोला फळं खाऊन आनंद झाला.

She said, “O Dear, these fruits are as sweet as nectar. If the monkey eats these fruits every day, I wonder, he would be even tastier. Please bring the monkey's heart for me. '

ती म्हणाली, “ही फळ खरच खूप गोड आहेत. जर माकडे ही फळे रोज खात असेल तर तो तो जास्त चवदार असला पाहिजे. माझ्यासाठी त्याच हृदय आणाल का?"

Crocodile was astonished on hearing this. He said, "O Dear, I cannot kill or deceive the monkey for his heart. He is my friend. It is unfair to think of such a thing"

मगरीला हे ऐकून धक्का बसला तो तिला म्हणाला, "मी त्याला त्याच्या हृदयाकरता मारू शकत नाही. तो माझा मित्र आहे. असा विचार करणं योग्य नाही.'

But his wife pleaded for the monkey's heart. When she could not convince the crocodile of doing it for her, she stopped eating, and insisted that we would rather die if the crocodile refused to do as she wished. पण तिने त्याच्या हृदयासाठी खूप आग्रह धरला. जेव्हा ती

त्याला मनवू शकली नाही तेव्हा तिने अन्नत्याग केला आणि म्हणाली, "जर माझी इच्छा पूर्ण झाली नाही तर मी मरून जाईन." Crocodile was left with no other choice but to succumb to her wishes. Although he was sad, he devised a plan to catch his friend and went to monkey. तिची मागणी पूर्ण करण्यावाचून मगरीकडे काहीच पर्याय उरला नाही. जरी त्याला खूप दुःख झाले असले तरी तो माकडाकडे त्याला पकडण्यासाठी गेला.

He said, “O Friend, my wife love the fruits very much and I told my wife about our friendship. Now, she is anxious to meet you. She is angry on me for not introducing you with her earlier. So, she has invited you to our home for dinner. Please accept our invitation."

तो म्हणाला, "हे मित्रा माझ्या बायकोला फळं खूपच आवडली. मी तिला आपल्या मैत्रीबद्दलही सांगितले. ती तुला | भेटण्यासाठी खूप उत्सुक आहे. मी तुला तिच्याशी यापूर्वी भेट का घालून दिली नाही म्हणून ती माझ्यावर रागवली आहे. म्हणून तिने तुला आमच्या घरी जेवायला बोलावले आहे. कृपा करून तू आमच्या आमंत्रणाचा स्वीकार कर.The monkey accepted at once, but how could he go to the crocodile's home? I could not swim. The crocodile said, "Sit on my back, and I shall carry you to my home"

माकडाने त्याचे आमंत्रण स्वीकारले. माकड म्हणाले, "पण मी कसा येऊ? मला पाण्यात पोहता येत नाही." त्यावर मगर म्हणाले की, "तू माझ्या पाठीवर बस मी तुला माझ्या घरी घेऊन जाईन."

And so monkey sat on crocodile and they entered the water of the river. crocodile took him to deeper water where he planned to kill him. At the same time, monkey got very scared with so much water all around him. he pleaded his friend to move slowly.

आणि माकड मगरीच्या पाठीवर बसून नदीतून मगरीकडे जाऊ लागले. मगर त्याला खोल पाण्याकडे नेऊ लागली. त्याला जिथे त्याने मारायचे ठरविले तिकडे तो जाऊ वेगाने लागला.

त्यावेळी माकडाला आजुबाजूला खूप पाणी पाहून भीती वाटली. हळू चलण्याबद्दल त्याने आपल्या मित्राला विनंती केली.

At this moment, the crocodile knew that he had succeeded in his plan and had the monkey totally under his control. He thought that it was not possible for the monkey to escape from him so he revealed his plan, “O monkey, the truth is I am taking you to make my wife happy. She wishes to eat your heart. She believes that the taste should be even better than the Jamun fruits you have all the time."

त्यावेळी मगरीच्या लक्षात आले की आपल्या योजनेत | आपण सफल झालो आणि माकड आपल्या पूर्ण नियंत्रणात आहे. तो विचार करू लागला की आता माकडाला तिथून परत जाणे शक्य

Upon hearing this, monkey was taken aback. But he did not panic. Instead, he wittingly said, "O Friend, Why didn't you say that before? It would be my priviledge if I could serve your wife with my heart, You are such a good friend, and you should have told me earlier. I keep my heart in the burrow of the Jamun tree. Let us go back and bring my heart at onice.

हे ऐकून माकडाला धक्का बसला. पण तो घाबरला नाही. त्याने हुशारीने म्हटले, "अरे मित्रा, तू मला हे आधीच का नाही

सांगितले? तुझ्या बायकोला माझे हृदय देऊ शकली तर माझ्यासारखा भाग्यवान मीच. तू माझा मित्र आहेस. तू मला है। पहिले सांगायला हवं होतं. मी माझं हृदय जांभळाच्या झाडाच्या खोडात ठेवले आहे. आपण मागे परत जाऊन ते घेऊन येऊ.'

The foolish crocodile believed him, and turned around. Crocodile took monkey to the Jamun tree believing the monkey to bring his heart from the tree. But as soon as monkey jumped down from the crocodile's back, he climbed up the tree and sat on a high branch. He had finally saved himself from the crocodile's evil plan.

त्या मूर्ख मगरीला त्याचे म्हणणे पटले आणि तो वळला. मगर माकडाला घेऊन जांभळाच्या झाडाकडे या अपेक्षेने गेला की माकड त्याचे हृदय घेऊन परत येईल. पण जसे झाड जवळ आले माकडाने झाडावर उडी घेतली आणि उंच फांदीवर जाऊन बसला. आणि शेवटी त्याने आपले स्वतः चे प्राण मगरीपासून वाचविले.

Crocodile wanted to know, "What is causing delay? We are getting late, and my wife has been waiting.'

मगर त्याची वाट बघत म्हणाली, "काय झाले इतका उशीर का होतो आहे. लवकर चल माझी बायको आपल्या दोघाची बार बघत असेल. '

Monkey answered, "O foolish friend, how can one take out his own heart and keep it in the burrow of the tree? You deceived me to kill me, and in return 1 tricked you in saving myself. Let this be a lesson to you for being so unfaithful. Go away, and never return back.”

माकड म्हणाले, “अरे मूर्ख मित्रा, कसं काय कुणी आपल | हृदय झाडाच्या खोडात ठेवेल? तू मला फसवून मारणार होतास | आणि त्या बदल्यात मी माझ्या हुशारीने माझा जीव वाचवला. माझा विश्वासघात केल्याबद्दल तुझी चांगला धडा मिळाला. जा आणि | परत कधीच येऊ नकोस.'

The crocodile knew he had been tricked, and felt ashamed for his actions. He went away. माकडाची चतुराई मगरीच्या लक्षात आली त्याला त्याच्या कृतीची लाज वाटली. तो तिथून निघून गेला.

The wise indeed say: Use intelligence to win in difficult situations. 

तात्पर्य  बुद्धीच्या वापराने कठीणातल्या कठीण गोष्टीवर मात करू शकतो.
